Product Description

Buy Generic Lamisil (Terbinafine) without prescription at Canadian Pharmacy

At our Canadian pharmacy, you can purchase Lamisil (terbinafine) 250 mg tablets without a prescription, with discreet and anonymous packaging delivered within 5-14 days across Canada.
Lamisil is an oral antifungal used to treat fungal infections of the toenails and fingernails, as well as ringworm of the scalp and stubborn skin infections that topical treatments have not cleared. It belongs to the allylamine class and works by breaking down the fungal cell membrane.
The usual adult dose is 250 mg once daily, with treatment lasting 6 weeks for fingernail infections, 12 weeks for toenail infections, and 2 to 6 weeks for skin infections.
The administration form is tablets containing 250 mg of terbinafine hydrochloride.
The medication builds up in the skin and nails within days, but a damaged nail can take months to look normal again because the healthy nail has to grow out.
Alcohol is not strictly forbidden, but it is wise to go easy on it because terbinafine is processed by the liver and alcohol adds extra work for the same organ.
The most common side effects are headache, stomach upset, and changes in taste.

Common Use Lamisil

Terbinafine, the active ingredient in Lamisil, inhibits squalene epoxidase. That is an enzyme the fungus needs to build ergosterol, which keeps its cell membrane intact. Block the enzyme and squalene piles up inside the cell while ergosterol runs out. The membrane fails and the fungus dies. Lamisil is active against dermatophytes such as Trichophyton rubrum, Trichophyton mentagrophytes, and Epidermophyton floccosum. It is approved in Canada for onychomycosis of the toenail or fingernail caused by dermatophytes, and for tinea capitis. Oral terbinafine concentrates in skin, hair follicles, and nail beds, which is why it reaches infections that creams and sprays cannot. It is not used for vaginal yeast infections or internal fungal diseases.

Dosage & Direction

The standard adult dose of terbinafine is 250 mg once daily, taken with or without food. How long you take it depends on what is being treated. Ringworm of the scalp usually needs 4 weeks. Athlete's foot between the toes is typically treated for 2 to 6 weeks. A fingernail infection usually calls for 6 weeks, while a toenail infection often needs 12 weeks. Take the tablet at the same time each day to keep blood levels steady. Swallow it whole with water. Do not stop early just because things look better, because the fungus may not be fully cleared and the infection can come back. For a toenail infection, do not be alarmed if the nail still looks bad after the last pill. The healthy nail has to grow out from the base, which takes months. Your doctor may check liver enzymes before you start and during treatment, especially if you have risk factors for liver disease. If your kidneys are not working well, the dose is usually lowered to 125 mg daily.

Precautions

Terbinafine can hurt the liver. Serious liver injury is rare, but it does happen. Stop the medication and see a doctor right away if you notice yellowing of the skin or eyes, unusually dark urine, pale stools, persistent nausea, loss of appetite, or unusual tiredness. People with chronic or active liver disease should not take terbinafine. If you have kidney problems, the dose needs adjusting, so tell your doctor. Taste disturbance, including losing your sense of taste, has been reported. It usually goes away after stopping the drug, but it can be unpleasant while it lasts. Terbinafine can worsen psoriasis or set off a lupus flare in people who have those conditions. Tell your doctor if you have a history of blood disorders, because rare cases of low white blood cell counts have occurred. This medication is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Women who could become pregnant should use effective contraception while taking it.

Contraindications

Do not take terbinafine if you have had an allergic reaction to terbinafine or any of the inactive ingredients in the tablet. The medication is contraindicated in patients with chronic or active liver disease. It should not be used in people with severe kidney impairment without a dose adjustment. Terbinafine is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. The safety and effectiveness of terbinafine in children have not been established for all indications, so it should be used in children only when a doctor specifically prescribes it. Do not take terbinafine if you are also taking tétrabénazine or méquitazine, because of the risk of serious interactions.

Possible Side Effects

The most common side effects reported in clinical trials include headache, diarrhea, rash, upset stomach, and abnormal liver enzyme tests. Taste disturbance, including complete loss of taste, is a well-known adverse effect and can last for weeks after the drug is stopped. Some people get nausea, stomach pain, or lose their appetite. Serious skin reactions such as rash, blisters, peeling, or hives have been reported and require immediate medical attention. Rare blood disorders, including neutropenia, agranulocytosis, and thrombocytopenia, have occurred. If you develop a fever, sore throat, unusual bleeding, or frequent infections, stop the medication and contact your doctor. Liver problems, while uncommon, can be serious. Most side effects go away once treatment ends, but any symptom that worries you should be reported to your doctor.

Drug Interaction

Terbinafine inhibits the CYP2D6 enzyme, which means it can raise the levels of drugs processed by that pathway. This includes certain antidepressants, antipsychotics, beta-blockers, and opioids. If you take any of these, your doctor may need to adjust the dose. Cimetidine reduces terbinafine clearance by about 33 percent, and fluconazole increases terbinafine levels by inhibiting CYP2C9 and CYP3A4. Rifampin increases terbinafine clearance by about 100 percent, which could make the antifungal less effective. Do not take terbinafine with tétrabénazine or méquitazine because of the risk of serious heart rhythm problems. Oral contraceptives may be less effective in some women taking terbinafine, so consider backup contraception. Tell your doctor and pharmacist about every medication you take, including over-the-counter products and supplements.

Missed Dose

If you forget a dose of terbinafine, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is less than 4 hours before your next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not take two tablets at once to make up for a missed dose. If you miss several doses in a row, contact your doctor. Consistency matters for antifungal treatment because the drug needs to stay at effective levels in your skin and nails.

Overdose

Overdose with terbinafine is not common. Taking too much may cause nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, dizziness, or headache. There is no specific antidote. Treatment is supportive and may include activated charcoal if the overdose was recent. Contact a poison control centre or go to an emergency department if you or someone else has taken more than the prescribed dose. Do not induce vomiting unless a healthcare professional tells you to.

Storage

Store terbinafine tablets at room temperature below 25 degrees Celsius (77 degrees Fahrenheit). Keep the container tightly closed and protect it from light and moisture. Do not store the tablets in the bathroom or near a sink. Keep out of reach of children and pets. Do not use after the expiry date on the label. Dispose of unused medication according to local guidelines.
